Recently discovered that my neutral safety switch is not functioning properly e.g. Starts in any gear. I have a '59 Belvedere 318. T flight trany. Two years ago I replaced the safety switch , last summer I replaced the starter solenoid . I removed the safety switch from the trany and I can feel the toggle switch inside the trany move when working the push buttons. I reinstalled the switch and tightened it thinking it wasn't making contact. However the problem is still there. I am in the process of having the switch checked for continuity. I understand that this is only a ground out switch for the solenoid seeing as there is only one wire. I have checked the forum but was not able to find anything on this. Question : does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Don from Canada. |
