Re: [FWDLK] disc brake conversions

Larry,

I am replying to the list only because it may be of importance to others.  If you use a drum/drum master cylinder with a disc/drum setup, you must remove the residual valve in the disc circuit of the master.  The residual valve is designed to keep a small amount of pressure against the wheel cylinders in a drum setup for them to work properly.  You want NO residual pressure with disc brakes as they will then hang-up. There are no return springs in a disc setup.

Gentlepersons....have any of you that have put disc brakes on the front using AAJ or other's brackets had the calipers not release after the pedal is released?  This with a dual m/c that was designed for drums all around.  Could it be that the drum shoes return springs force the fluid back up the incoming tube and m/c designed for disc front/drum rear have some internal change that allows the calipers to release?  You can email me direct to save the list from the trouble.  Larry Jett               jettlarry@xxxxxxx
