Just found the time to watch this fascinating video.

There were some truly hazardous, even dangerous, construction operations
back in the 30's.

At about 2:30, there are men who have large machinery close in in them from
both sides---one bad mis-step, and 'you' were history!

At about 6:30, men are seen stepping up onto narrow moving tracks, to attend to
the front sheetmetal.

One bad slip, or when a bumper bracket would catch your pants, causing you to
fall or get caught under the car, and you are in a World of Hurting.

The construction noise must have been deafening.
