[FWDLK] help

I am having difficulty installing the water distribution tube on my 55 Ply 6 cyl--I took the old one out and was partially corroded-But the new one gets stuck immediately---I am installing it with the tube opening cut outs on top but it just won't slide in--It binds somewhere inside and the tube seems to be a little too thick.

Does anybody have some tips or suggestions on how to do this without deforming the tube?
