Re: [FWDLK] water distribution tube question

My ‘41 Dodge shop manual says that the water distribution tube directs the flow of water from the water pump against the exhaust valve ports which are the hottest spots in the engine.  Also says to always replace it.

Dave,

Thanks. I have bought two from eBay a while back. Most of the ones I see on eBay are not NOS, but reproductions. I messed up one trying to fit it into the block, since it appears these are not made to exact specifications (these are very poorly made). Besides, it looks like they are made from low grade steel and God knows what kind of coating it had because the coolant caused the coating to disintigrate and it clogged up the radiator.
I am having major cooling problems and I have practically done everything and the engine still overheats. I have run into a dead end and I am at a loss.

Jesus,

I saw an NOS one on eBay recently.

I am still working on my '55 Ply 6 cyl restoration and I am just wondering if the water distribution tube is really necessary. After all, the water pump forces the water well into the engine block.

Has anyone done an engine restoration where the water distribution tube was or was not replaced?

Thanks
