  If you decide to install the passenger side mirror, find yourself a second body - wife, kid, vagrant, 3rd world dictator 
passing by - and based on the correct front-to-back install location, have this person swivel the screw point a bit toward 
the driver's side until you achieve a happy level of rear view pleasure, have them mark that point through the screw hole
with a Sharpie pen, and drill accordingly.  While the mirror proves to be a lot small for such a distance, you can minimize
the aim problem by doing this simple adjustment from "stock".

  You can also shim the mirror to tilt it up or down a little, if that helps.  I like to cut my own rubber gaskets anyway, and these
can be shimmed a little without being too eye catching.

  The 56 "shorter" mirrors are worse for aim and backward visibility than the twin strut dudes introduced on the DeSotos and
Chryslers in 57, but they would look a whole bunch wrong on a 56 car.

  Of course, you could always lop the lid off that old see-dan of yours and make you a parade car !  You wouldn't be the first.  :-P
