Re: [FWDLK] Brakes and Hydraulics

Getting something hot is always my last resort, as it usually destroys all soft parts nearby and can often mess up
hard parts as well.  But nothing makes scale and such clear out like the thermal expansion coefficiencies caused by
super heating.  ;-)

Thanks for the tip. I think you are right about the ATF/acetone mixture although the only objects I have personally tried it on—a famously stuck lawn mower engine and a small rusted screw jack—remain frozen. I think perhaps in those cases, the acetone flashed out of the mixture before it had a chance to penetrate.

I have had poor results with WD-40; fair to good results with PB Blaster. The most effective tool in the arsenal remains the torch, but I always worry about setting something on fire.

A 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone is the all-time best rust penetrator for freeing stuck items.

Cheap and easy to mix up, just put it in a spray bottle and you're off to the rodeo.  Can be applied with a brush, or dunk whole
parts in a bowl of the stuff.  Beats the pants off PB or WD.
