Re: [FWDLK] 1957 Film GM vs. Ford vs. Mopar

There was a similar one in 1958 with Tom McCahill, where he tortured a Cadillac until a rear spring broke and the rear door and trunk came open, also a Buick with airbags “that you pay extra for” which he managed to pop leaving the car listing.  Of course the Chryslers and Imperials were unscathed.  Lots of sexist period comments, like “corners as flat as a bookkeeper’s chest.” It was filmed at Manzanar, a WW II Japanese “relocation camp” on US 395 in California near Mt. Whitney.

Hello!

Its part of this video: "You're on the Test Track" with the 1957 Chrysler and Imperial Automobiles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lz0YL503HN4
13 minutes and 40 seconds into that clip, or here is just the part where they drive over the rail-way crossing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wNpG97xovM
I too recall that some car broke something but it was probably only the rocks that comes flying after one of the cars bumper hits the ground
or maybe its in some other clip.

Btw I haven't written anything in this mail-list before so here is a little about me:
I bought a -57 Windsor last year, first car ever to buy, here is a picture of it in a thread on the forum: http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=44830
Using it daily and fixing it up a little at a time.

I can't seem to find that video of the film highlighting the suspension
and handling performance of the 1957 cars. You know, the one showing cars
bounding  and bouncing over every imaginable road surface. As I recall,
some of the competition actually broke stuff, while the Mopar (I think it
was a Plymouth) cruised through it all very much unscathed and under
control.

Please point me to it on the web if you know where it is.

Thanks,
