Re: [Chrysler300] 300J in VA subject

Big to differ? You know as well as I and the world know that Chrysler never built a 300 N. Maybe the 'N' stood for "No Way". You know the letter car technically stopped at 'L' in 65. It sounds like somebody 'made up' your 67. Maybe the dealer was trying things out. But the bottom line is it was no N. If Chrysler continued the letter series after 65, then true, the 66 would have been a M and the 67 would have been a N. But that did not happen. Also, keeping with the letter theme, in 67, the "300-N" (if there were one) would have had to have the most powerful engine Chrysler made. And in 67, that would have been the 426 Hemi. Did your 67 have 4 bucket seats? As far as I know the 67 Dodge Charger was the only car with 4 bucket seats. Sorry, but no Ns.

Jim

I beg to differ with you Jim! I live in Virginia and actually own a 300 N!! The "N" does not stand for "No Kidding" either. I bought my 67 Chrysler 300 convertible from the original owner's estate. They had a dealer installed dual 4 bbl carburetor set up that's probably the same intake set-up the that came on the 300 H's. Dual in-line Carter 4 bbls with oval gold air cleaners. The car itself is equipped with the 440 hi performance engine, 3.23:1 Sure Grip diff, heavy duty suspension and cooling packages and leather bucket seats separated by a console. There is also a 300 N badge affixed to the trunk that is in the same location and same "font" style as the 300 H badge on the 62 model. The only thing it doesn't have is a 150 mph speedometer,

If Chrysler had built an official "letter series" 300 in 1967, it would have been equipped like my car is!

The 300M was actually a pretty nice car (for a front wheel drive), peppy, comfortable. I had a 99 300M. But I think Daimler made a mistake in naming the 300C Hemi. It SHOULD be the 300N, don't you think? Except for being a 4 door, it does have the base requirement of at least 300hp, and it IS rear wheel drive. Oh well, I guess the Germans didn't care about our tradition. From cold windy northern Michigan, where we already have about 8" of snow and the snowmobile trails open Dec 1st!!!!

Ahah, Jim, you are correct! No 300M Hemis! The 1999 300s could/should (maybe) have been so named to carry on the letter heritage. And if I remember correctly, Mr. Robert Lutz voted against the "M" letter designation, rightfully so! But then the "300C" did somewhat reflect the 1957 300C (brand new body style) but not the actual heritage as the "C" only represented the"CHRYSLER" name in 1999.
Then just imagine "N", "O", "P", "Q", "R", etc. for the following years! Gives me the shivvers! Thank goodness there was no "i" designation for the 1963 300 letter series! "300i", no way!

Just a little repose on this cold, windy, snowy day. All my "Brutes" are snuggled in their covers in the buildings to await warmth and sunshine of spring.

Ahhh...George....Number 1, there were no 300M hemis, I'm assuming you meant 300C Hemi. And I gotta tell you, my 06 Charger R/T hemi I believe would outrun my H. Never raced the two yet, but if you haven't driven one yet, don't just assume our beloved letters cars will 'our run' them. And Number 2, My H doesn't leak in the rain either. Nor has rattles. The J's weren't the only letter cars built solid. All of our beloved letter cars are Poetry in motion, sleek, powerful. The J is just one of our younger brothers

Ha! There are just some people that are just jealous of "300J" owners. We "J" owners share a pride of ownership of the rarest model year. Fast, stylish, sleek, powerful! Art in MOTION! Besides that, these "J" coupes do not leak water inside when it rains! No flapping convertable tops that tend to tear off over 90 m.p.h.! Solid ride with no door or top ratteling! Poetry in motion on the highway! Will out run any "new" 300M Hemis! Carries 5 Passengers with a trunk full of luggage.
"300J" owners are the "elete", a special breed! Yes, the other300s are nice to own, but the "J" is "Just a cut above"! The only thing "square" about a "J" is the steering wheel"

300J OWNERS UNITE! WE ARE THE ELETE!!

I have lived in the Detroit area most of my life, been to Canada many times, and to this day have many GOOD Canadian friends. ANYBODY that says something bad about Canadians, to me, is like saying something bad about a fellow American....Sorry, but I have yet to meet a BAD Canadian.....

Jean-Yves, I fully concur. I have been to Canada on at least several
occasions, and thoroughly enjoy your country and its people! Best
