[Chrysler300] C300 Market

An eBay associate just started offering a service that recalls all previous
eBay car sales for cars 20 years old or older. I looked up the 1955 C-300
and it listed the top ten sales in recent years at (descending): 55K, 45K,
35K, 30.2K, 25.2K, 15K, 13.27K, 13.17K, 5.05K, 4.15K. They are unable to
pull up many of the auction pages so you can see what the car was.

The two that went at an RM auction recently at $100K+ were most certainly of
a higher grade.

Based on these observations, I have elected not to do a major restoration on
our nice driver C-300 as it would probably not be a good investment under
current market conditions. However, our car has probably declined less than
our house or our portfolio in the last 12 months. I do realize there are
other motivations besides economic to collecting and restoring old cars.

Base Price $28,000 $41,800 $88,700

Also, we're having a depression! It's been in all the papers. And, there
may never be another Chrysler built. Investment in orphans, however rare
and classic, has not always been a good idea.

Can anyone shed some light on why the '55 c300 went for less than
$30,000 at auction today? I am totally baffled and worried about the
value of my c300.
