RE: [Chrysler300]Self Adjusting valves

Thanks George. Do solid lifters really provide an increase in performance?
I just really wonder how much benefit there is compared to hydraulics. It
sure is nice never having to adjust valves. There was a BMW commercial
running just a few years back that touted the BMW had valves that "adjusted
themselves" as if it was such an advanced feature. I chuckled at it and
told my wife that our 300G had self adjusting valves too.

Hi Bob; The J and ram K also has soilid lifters, the non-ram is hyd, and the
L has hyd. lifters. The '59, '60 & '61 were hyd. except for the 400 H.P.
option.

Well I guess you learn something new everyday. I didn't know the H had
solid lifters, does the J, K & L have solid lifters too?

The stock 413 engine in the 1962 300H HAS solid lifters. If I was doing it
over again, I would have converted the one in my 300H conv to hydraulic
lifters to eliminate that extra maintenance. Fern

Jim,

You should have hydraulic lifters in your 413 that do not require
adjustment, you won't find any adjusters on the rocker arms.

Good morning group. I hope everyone is doing well. I'm not a mechanic, so
I've hired a Mechanic to help me and he has a question that I KNOW someone
can answer. Keep in mind this is the first Chrysler he's worked on. (Don't
laugh....he's a Chevy guy)(I guess somebody has to drive those things).

We've dug in and are replacing valve seals in my original 413 in my H. (The
original seals are as hard as metal). He's concerned about adjusting the
valves once we're done. He's explained how he does it in a Chevy, but says
it's different here. I have an original service manual, but I can't find any
procedure on how to adjust the valves. Now the question:

Do the valves need to be adjusted? (I would think they do, listening to
him). Can someone explain how to do this?

Thanks as always for your help

Has anyone had their dash painted as part of a restoration? Any tips on
color match & type of paint would be greatly appreciated.
