[Chrysler300] Re: 300D Power Steering Hose

Chrysler Service Bulletin #995-CH from the '57 TSB series talks about the stuck flow control valve which someone already mentioned and says it will cause noisy fan belt operation making the fan belt slip. Says to check for this by installing a power steering pump pressure gauge on the high pressure side of the PS pump. With engine RPM at 1200 max pump pressure should not exceed 950 p.s.i. and if it does, REPLACE THE PUMP (emphasis theirs). Do not attempt to recondition the pump they say. Also possible is a cracked gear housing in the PS pump caused by the sticking flow control valve and if this is found replace the pump and the hose.

Of course we don't have the dealer test tools but surely something can be jury rigged to work.
