RE: [Chrysler300] Ram dashpot needed

Dave and Club,

Jim Simpson of O.D.D. Parts and Fabrication in Sonoma, California may be a
guy skilled enough to rebuild these. I know he is at least interested in
trying.

At the recent Marin Concours D'Elegance event, I examined a similar
diaphragm type devise Jim displayed as his rebuild. I was surprised to see
the very minimal deformation to the "can" that had apparently been taken
apart, rebuilt and reassembled. Like a fuel pump rebuild, to do this right,
I consider that engineered dies are required. But I don't know how he
accomplished it. Anyone can attempt to pry these apart and then peen them
back together again, but forging a neat seam is another story. Visiting
with Jim at his sales booth, he said he was very interested trying one of
these. And if the pod I looked at is really one of his rebuilds, I do like
what I saw. Not perfect, but way-nice enough considering our alternatives
until a reproduction is produced, which would likely not be that difficult
to accomplish given the prolific use of these over the years.

We ( the Club) need to find a scource for these things. NOS working
originals are all but impossible to find as the diaphrams are all dried up
and leak. I got stuck w/2 of 'em off E-bay a few years back and niether work

w/no refund and they were NOT cheap. (they sure look nice on the engine
though!!)

So now the F is very annoying to drive in hot weather if not downright
impossible for Carolyn to drive, with the A/C on (when it worked) one had to

shut it down in city driving when ever approaching a stop light or in heavy
traffic.

Just my 2$ worth, (adjusted for inflation!!)
