Re: [Chrysler300] Transmission Wet Burps on a '57

I have been told by the shop that the problem you are referring to, that is the leak down from the TC/ fluid coupler, in the newly rebuilt transmission. Is the result of a difference between the worn shaft and the sealing O-Ring which comes in the rebuild kit. As to weather it is the result of the (made overseas) O-Ring being slightly off and / or grove worn on the original shaft is not clear. But this would explain why it would burp out after being rebuilt. It only happens to me if the car is stored for a couple of weeks without running. So it takes a few days for enough fluid to leak past and overfill the transmission pan and come out of the dipstick...I like the Cork idea.
Perhaps, when rebuilding the trans. we should insist that a measurement be made of the grooved shaft and the o-ring until a match could be found.

Dave, you sucked me in on this one! (OK,I was looking something else up
anyway!)

The transmission filler tube part number for Torqueflite Chryslers was
changed as follows:

1956-----PN 1671764
1957, up to 300C engine #1338, (approx. early Feb.) PN 1731174.
1957 after engine #1338, PN 1823690
1958 up to 300D engine #1566, (approx mid/late Feb.) still PN 1823690
1958 after engine #1566, PN 1853760
1959 ----PN 1941634. This could certainly be due to bracket changes for
the new "B" engine.

Perhaps of more---but not much more---significance, the oil level indicator
PN was also changed at 300C engine #1338, and again for 1959.

What can one conclude from the above? Not much, I would say, without the
engineering drawings or known original parts to compare differences.

Wish I was home to check my parts books.

Somepone do some research on this as to the different dipstick tube asslys
from 55 up through 59.
Should shed some light on this issue
