All,  I've looked in my parts room and have come up with Power Steering Hose # 14064.  There is no brand name on the box but I do remember the brand of Continental previously and I don't think it is the Continental out of Europe.
 
As I recall in the parts book the listing was for 1957 Chrysler but it does work on the '55 & '56 cars with the modification on one fitting.  You will see a very visible metal step down about half way through the hose.

I have the same problem with my 57 Saratoga after replacing the high pressure hose; it groans but the ps works fine.  John, if you can dig up a Continental parts number that would be great!
