Re: [Chrysler300] 300-F Plug reccomendations

It is now my understanding that Pertronix can supply the Ignitor II for our Chrysler applications.  They got a bit ahead of themselves in publishing their catalog listings prior to being able to offer those products.  I'm now told by my contact at Pertronix that this has changed.

Regarding spark plugs, I think they are like Ice Cream.  Everyone likes what they like.  I sell Bosch and NGK.  I've had nothing but bad luck with the first and nothing but good results with the latter in my 40+ years of using them.  Bottom line is use the brand that works for you.

Hi All,
Pertronix definately uses the Hall Effect...rotating magnets(I think they call it the reluctor) mounted on the shaft underneath the rotor induce current in a conductor which is  then processed through an integrated circuit that tells the ignition coil to discharge at just the right time to send a high voltage to jump the gap at the spark plug...The Autolite 847 spark plug is still plentiful and inexpensive and designed for high energy ignitions, originally on GM big blocks, I think...I use the Pertronix coil(Flamethrower) and gap them at .060" and they work great. I use the Pertronix 2 on a few IH engines, but only the regular Pertronix is made for Chrysler 413...you just have to make sure you don't leave they ignition key turned on w/o the engine running- the little circuit board will fry if you do...this doesn't happen w/ the Pertronix 2. You also have to check your plug wires for leakage every so often, as the voltage at the plug is a lot higher and
wires fail quicker- you notice this most when the air is damp!! But the performance you get is very nice from the 413 w/ cross rams...
