RE: [Chrysler300] Torqueflite casting number

Keith, I think you would have to run the number through the parts books from the year/s the trans would have been thought to have come from.

You would need the books from those years including light trucks.

I have all those books and would be glad to do some research. Much easier and quicker if one has the books in front of them.

You folks are all a great help. Planning to finally give up on the TF I've got, and build another from scratch. If I had a cup holder in my C, I could make James Bond a martini in it at any speed over 35.

I'll look for the "1854123" on the passenger pan rail. That's on the outer edge of the rail, or the top of the rail?

Any idea offhand what the stamped part number would be if a TF came from a non 300 car?

Thanks again.

Hi Keith,

I don’t have one in front of me now, but there is no different casting number for 300’s. All the differences on 300 transmissions were internal. They do have a different part number stamped on the right oil pan rail. 1957 and 1958 is 1854123, according to George’s research. There were only 3 different casting between 56 and 61. 56 was by itself, 57-mid 59, and mid 59-61. The last two were the change in how the shift cable entered the trans. Casting numbers are on the left side of the case, usually but not always with a casting date.

H Gang,

Someone gave me a casting number I need to look for a year or so ago, and I've misplaced it.

The Torqueflite for a '57 300C is said to have a different casting number from the standard models. As I am looking at old Torqueflites, I would appreciate it if someone can provide this number to me again so I don't end up with the wrong model.

Thanks.
