Re: {Chrysler 300} Top Dead Center

I used another approach when setting up my 57.  I threaded the end of a compression tester into the spark plug hole, and then put a balloon on the other end of the hose.  I turned the engine and stopped when the balloon reached maximum size/inflation.  That way I could tell the piston was up and was also on the compression stroke. ;-)  A mechanic buddy came by at the time and got a good chuckle out of my 'creativity'.

A straw.   Remove  #1  plug.
With the distributor cap off, the rotor will tell you if it is near #1.
Bring the crank slowly up to #  1 marked  on the pulley, stick the straw into the plug hole, and  SLOWLY bring  the crank around watching the straw. It will push up out of the hole and when you pass the TDC, it  will start going down.
This is about as accurate as you can get as you are watching the piston travel.

Hello, everyone:

Which is the most accurate top dead center tool for an engine already installed? Been a while since I last used one.
