Re: FW: {Chrysler 300} 300F Exhaust

My experience found the pipes ordered for a 1965 Imperial Convertible over 25 years ago were nice, but did not fit quite right.  Still had to take the car and pipes to the local muffler shop to custom fit what I had paid for.  So, lesson learned, find a good local muffler shop that will custom bend your pipe, select your mufflers (either correct pentastar stamped to your year/make/model or go aftermarket for best performance) and have the entire process done locally for a lot less headache.  I have since found the quality and price far superior then to mail order and my local muffler shop seems to love to work on older cars anyway.

I would use Waldron’s again and plan to for my ’57 NY’er in order to get the correct looooong mufflers and correct diameter pipes.  When I worked with Ruth on the 300J system I found her to be just a bit insolent at first but much better on subsequent conversations.  Overall, the products I received were very close to  correct (except for tailpipe ends) and fit pretty well (but not perfect).  Overall I was pleased.

Even though I had issues with Waldrons on both my cars, and others with 300Fs got the wrong tailpipes as well, I still recommend them.

I'm on their bad list now even though I was very reasonable with them when I got the bad tailpipes for my 300F. I sent them all kinds of documentation as well as photos showing the difference between my factory pipes and what they sent. I consulted other 300F owners who had gotten the wrong tailpipes. Ruth at Waldrons kept insisting that there was something wrong with my car or my installation. I finally gave up trying to get new pipes from them and had my old original tailpipes on the car. About 6 months later, they actually sent new tailpipes without telling me. I'd actually moved by then and they sent them to my old address. I only knew about it because UPS notified me of a package coming from them. Those pipes turned out not to fit either. To this day, I still have my original tailpipes installed. I will have them remade at an exhaust shop and will be making a second set for my friend Michael in Australia for his F as he got the wrong ones as well a long time ago and Waldrons wanted him to pay for the new correct ones.

I ordered the exhaust for my '60 NY wagon from them, as they are the only ones who make the correct size resonators for it. When I asked them a question about the system, Ruth told me they wouldn't guarantee the fit to my car because I complained before about the other ones. I have fit issues again as one of the tailpipes needs some bending to fit properly.

I recently recommended them to a friend with a '60 NY 4-door hardtop and he didn't have much issue with the fit and is super happy with it.

I know bending exhaust pipes is an art, but so is customer service.

Thanks everyone for the 300F exhaust recommendations.

Seems like Waldron's is the place to go, unfortunately 12 weeks out for the whole system or 6 weeks out for just the pipes. :(

By now Waldron is in good practice. I sent them .PDF’s of the 300 F service supplements so they know exactly how to build it. Mine came out beautiful, perfect tail turndowns, great sound, and it took my mechanic a half a day to install. It is the way to go. They built a system for my 56 Caddy too, 4 mufflers, went on perfect. None of these operations are perfect any more than our cars are, fitment will always vary given the age of our cars. However Waldron trys very hard to get it right, with a good attitude too.

I just replaced the exhaust on my 61 300G from Waldrons and it fit great.

Hi All,

I need to replace most of the exhaust on my 60 - 300F.

The mufflers are in good shape but I will need to replace from the manifold down

to the mufflers.

I heard that there are kits out there, can anyone recommend where to find a good one?

Thanks - Tony
