{Chrysler 300} Re: Speedometer Cable Lube

I agree with John Grady. For years I have used high quality wheel bearing grease for disc brakes. I never found the "special" cable lubes to be that "special". I do clean the cable in my parts cleaner tank, and then feed it into the sheath by passing it thought my hands covered with the bearing grease. Another nice thing about the grease is it does not migrate up the cable and get into and mess up the instruments.

Hey Folks –

What does everyone use for speedometer cable lubricant ? This is the actual cable lube, not the lube for the wick at the speedo head.

Years ago, NAPA sold a product called Lub-A-Cable, which is a graphite cable lubricant. Also, Dorman had a product, 9-1812 or 03344, which is the same thing. But neither seem to be available now. A call to Dorman said that they have none in stock.
