There is and early '50s Studabaker that runs around Great Falls. All lowered, flat black, looks like something you might see at Bonniville. You think... has to have a 350, wrongo bongo! 392 with dual 4's and air, There are good people after all. I think Dodger has made an excelent point. The older I get,be fitty one soon, the more forgiving I become. I have a certain respect for anyone who goes outside the box and does something that requires making something work that was not intended.I hate the sb chev as much as anyone in this group. No respect what soever for someone who bolts on dodads and what nots and calls it modified. Some one who takes whatever engine and puts it in whatever car, assuming it is NOT a bolt-in, gets points from me.Not every one has the money to do things by the book and if all they can afford is a sb chevy so be it. They are incredibly cheap to build after all.A buddy borrowed my garage to put a 327 in his '57 belair. Rather than clean up the old stuff,he bought
chrome oil pan, valve covers and timing cover. He had enough change left over from a 20 dollar bill to buy a case of beer and a pizza!!! Don't worry comrads, after he left, I gutted the garage and had it fumagated, sealed all the doors and windows, poured 35 thousand gallons of sealer in the attic vents and rolled the whole building end for end and side to side. I then waited till midnight and opened the doors, took a BIG broom and pushed all the sealed down the alley and into the storm drain. This was VERY expenive and took a long time but the smell of the 327 in hardly noticable.Hind sight is 20 20, I would have been better off to burn it down and build a new one.
