I had the same problems,  What I did was took the radiator to a good shop
and had the acid dipped and the cores cleaned,  problem solved.

Since you had the motor rebuilt did you "hypo" it up a bit? If so,
you may now not have the capacity for your rebuild.
Actually when does it overheat?
around town?  ((likely a restriction in the rad)
or is it a gradual thing as you are going down the highway?
