Have you tried cutting your finger while working on the dash, thus offering some blood letting to the Mopar repair goddess?  ;--)

Seriously, I've never taken a headlight switch apart to see, but pushing the button raises or pulls back some sort of catch/latch. Isn't the button spring loaded? If the catch/latch/spring is broken inside then the latch won't release, like you describe.

If you end up dissecting the switch take some pictures of it disassembled to show how the latch works inside.

First, though, push harder on the button. Worth a try.
