RE: oil pan fitment



Sure could be.  Happens often.  I just tore down and resealed/regasketed 
an LA 318, and got a rear main seal leak.  I put a new one in, too.  
Turned out the oil was running down the back corner of the valve cover 
by #8, and sneakily running down to where it dripped like a rear main 
leak.  I would've swore it was the rear main at first.
