I can't speak to the 63, but the 64 service manual engine compartment diagram shows which hoses go where. You have to examine the drawings, but once done, it's clear. /Butch/Ferndale, WA

 My thought is- the hot water feed hose from the engine (pressure side) 
would go to the control valve side of the  heater core. That would prevent 
hot water from going thru the heater core during summer
