${top_text_ad} Tried that. Pumping 3 times versus 30 before cranking makes zero difference. It still takes about 20 seconds of cranking, which is why I'm buying into the evaporation theory. Once running, it'll start instantly like a champ the rest of the day. The next day, pretty easy. Two days, a little harder, and so on. It also seems like outside temp makes no difference. Still starts hard when it's 95 degrees out if it's been sitting. Can an electric be used in conjunction with mechanical? Maybe flip on the electric just to prime it, then turn it off and run off the mechanical? - Jim Jim Altemose, Long Island, NY '63 Polara 500 (Max Wedge) '63 Polara 500 (383) '65 Belvedere I (Street Wedge) '71 Bronco On Fri, Sep 17, 2010 at 7:34 AM, doug daniel <dougdaniel50@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > pump the pedal several times after a long time sitting > > --- On Thu, 9/16/10, Rich Kinsley <rlkinsley@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > >> From: Rich Kinsley <rlkinsley@xxxxxxxxx> >> Subject: RE: Hard starting >> To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx >> Date: Thursday, September 16, 2010, 10:14 PM >> >> I had that issue and the electric fuel pump cured it for >> me. >> >> Rich Knsley '64 Dodge Polara 4dr 318poly w/goodies >> ================================================================== >> Jim Altemose wrote: >> > >> > My 63 Polara 500, 383, 4 barrel Carter AFB, has >> trouble starting when >> > it sits for several days.
