Hey Walt,

I was actually discussing this with Gary H.  I don't remember what muffler I went with cuz it was 2 or 3 years ago.  It would say on my bill, but there is a problem.  My Polara has a tarp on it and a bunch of snow, and guess where my bill is.  In my glove box.  So until spring gets here, and the snow melts, I cant access it.  So if you're patient I can tell you 2 to 3 months.  What I can tell you is that the exhaust cost as much as I paid for the car, which about $750.  Everything was brand new and custom bent from the manifolds back.  I'm gonna attach some pics of my work in progress.  Ask me in spring about my exhaust.  Even if I have to crawl under the car I'll get the name of those mufflers.  But not till spring.

Thanks to all for the comments and suggestions and links.
Sure seems to be quite a bit of science and other variables
to consider in this decision.
So, Corey,  what system/exhaust  did your shop  install?

Thanks

Walt

I gotta agree with Dodger.  Talk to the exhaust shop.   I too was confused as to the sound I wanted.  He suggested flowmasters on my mildly built 440.  I told him I didn't really care for that sound.  I told him I wanted something that rumbled but not too loud.  When I heard my car fire up and they backed it out of the shop, I nearly s**t myself.  It was exactly what I had in my head.  And to all of you who read this, yes, I dislike the sound of flowmaster's.   Sue me!!

Sound is definitely a personal judgement call,,,,I personally would want the pipes to be a very minimum of 2 1/2 inch, seems like the smaller pipes give a cackling sound versus a rumble, as far as mufflers go I would talk to the exhaust shop that is going to be doing the work and find out what they like to work with and what their recommendations are for your application
