1962 Newport Update

Well the transmission shop called me.  At first glance they did not find any problems but the guy that knows 727's was out until today.  Today I was told that the planetary gear was toast.  It showed signs of damage from no fluid.  I do have a receipt from 1986 that showed the car had been slipping 2nd and 3rd gear.  I do not show a receipt of it being repaired.  I drove the car 1500 miles last year, I never noticed any problems.  However I do not claim to be an expert on transmissions so I leave that to the pros.  I guess a complete rebuild is in order with as few new parts as required.  I'm going to have them make it so it shifts a bit firmer.  They are nice when they shift soft, but I'll drive my car harder than anybody else has in the past.  So may as well get it done now, I don't want to pull it out again later.

Body work, nothing new.  I reminded them last week the car leaves on the 30th done or not.  Once I get the transmission back I will turn my attention toward the motor.  For now I will start work on the sub frame tomorrow.  I have all he parts, it's just time really.  It is fun I must say.  I have a weird sense of fun.

Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person. That is, send parts/car transactions and negotiations as well as other personal messages only to the intended recipient, not to the Clubhouse public address. This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
