well i did have the whole front system open and drained out. Can't I do it in the car, getting the master cylinder  out is  a major pain

If so you may need to bleed the master cylinder with all the brake lines disconnected, preferably in a vice.

That was the only way I could get ]the mushiness out of my system after bleeding them several times.
