Just passing this along. Mancini sells orange boxes for 15.00, a wiring harness for 20.00, they also bring these items to every car show they attend. Get a junkyard dist. for your application, a new ballast resistor and its done.  As long as you speak Spanish you should be able to go to any store and buy parts when and if it fails 1000 miles from home.  Chrysler designed the electronics that sent us to the moon,  they probably know whats up. Any manual, Chilton, Motor or the Chrysler engine manual all show a ballast resistor.  Why you would change perfectly good stock equipment for non serviceable on the fly parts makes no sense. I have to follow the KISS principle, Im one of the stupider ones.

Thanks… actually my first and foremost job is to get reliable NEWS, weather and sports out to the Mopar community… If I sell parts, its always been because no one else sold them which is how I fell into this Poly manifold project…  As the project developed, it was recognized there was a very minimal parts and information network so we now carry all the new parts to do Polys which has been a huge blessing to all the guys out there that aren’t familiar with Gary P and all the blogs… The Pertronix is NEWS and should be carried out to the Mopar community… Its been hard to beat Ma Mopars kits tho…

Roland , if you are selling  other ignition parts, I can see your motive for not recommending Pertronix.  I may not recommend the base Pertronix conversion for high performance engines.  The reason you don't see them on LA, Wedge ,and Hemis is that you must not be  in touch with all the people that do use them and are quite satisfied.  64ragtop hits the nail squarely on the head in his post.  I have had the base Pertronix in my Hemi for about 10 years and the only problem I had was with the coil bracket slipping and grounding  the coil out.  Being Pertronix had nothing to do with that........................................MO

If the Pertronix was that good, how come we don’t see any on LA, wedge and Hemi engines?  And you still have a 50 year old distributor and advance curves-both vacuum and centrifugal… Not trying to condemn-I’m always open for education don’t ya know?

The quick, easy, and low cost way is to put a Pertronix conversion in your distributor. This is commonly done................................MO
