Higher amp alternator.
Cory Rempel <Cory_383@xxxxxxxxxxx>: Jan 31 02:00PM

Hey guys, here's a question I don't remember being asked here. Can you rebuild an alternator to put out more amperage? Reason for me asking is that I might have to get an electric pusher fan for my ...more
"dennis.1963ply" <dennis.1963ply@xxxxxxxxx>: Jan 31 06:32AM -0800

Yes, there are kits to increase the amperage of your alternator and there
are larger alternators that range for moderate to expensive in price.
However more important I would look at ...more
Cory Rempel <Cory_383@xxxxxxxxxxx>: Jan 31 02:47PM

Hey Denis. The rad was rebuilt. At least it damn well better have been rebuilt. Sumbitch charged me $750 for it, which is $50 less than what I paid for the car, and about $200 less than what I paid ...more
Cory Rempel <Cory_383@xxxxxxxxxxx>: Jan 31 02:51PM

Also Denis, do you have a lead on where to get these kits? Thanks.

Just a couple of thoughts:
Does it overheat at highway speed? If it does in my experience the pusher
fan will not work and you have another problem.
When you upgrade the alternator take the ...more

I don't remember if it overheats at highway speeds. I didn't drive it at all last year cuz the brand new brakes didn't work for shit. This year my buddy said we'll put discs on it from one of his ...more

If your car does cool down at reasonable speeds such as over 45, probably
less, then you have an airflow issue. A shroud will be your best friend.
Cory Rempel <Cory_383@xxxxxxxxxxx>: Jan 31 05:15PM

Okay, the one time I remember driving it on the highway (it gets driven like 95% in city) I do remember it was a comfortably warm day. About 25 Celsius so like 80 Fahrenheit. me and a buddy drove ...more

Yep if day the shroud was very instrumental in helping cure my overheating.

You can put a newer single field alt. on. I used a 70 amp and have instruction sheets I got form Olsen Dodge when they were open. Fairly easy.

Yes, indeed. I pulled one from the list below right off the shelf at

Pusher fan
Richard Kinsley <leroar.kinsley058@xxxxxxxxx>: Jan 31 10:00AM -0600

george smith <bt6t4@xxxxxxxxx>: Jan 31 06:23PM

I had a pusher fan on for while. The plastic tabs that go throuh the rad to hold it on eventually wore holes in the rad and I had leaks. Didn't help much in cooling either.

trans and rear end. No seals involved.
