Re: electric fuel pumps

I have tried running with both the mechanical and electric fuel pumps.

With only the mechanical pump running anywhere near half tank I was not getting enough fuel with just the mechanical pump.  I also had the concern that if I had a failure in the mechanical pump with the electric fuel pump running I could get fuel in the crankcase.

My biggest concern with the electric fuel pump is that it can run after an accident or any time the engine is off and the ignition switch is on unless it is ran through a oil pressure safety switch.

I actually have a question or two about them as well.  Can they be used in tandem with the mechanical pumps?  If so, do they always have to be on?

Thanks

I use Carter pumps. Don't think the noise level is annoying and they pump enough to feed my 400-500 HP engines.
