Wow – wonder how much weight that would be full scale, that they are shifting.  You definitely want some tongue weight – look at how much trailer (and weight) is in front of the axles on a camping trailer.  When I hook-up my camping trailer the ¾ ton truck squats down 3.5” at the hitch with at least 600#’s tongue weight.  Don’t really need more than a ½ ton truck most of the time – but when towing nice to have more truck than you need.

 

Interesting that it is a U-haul video because I was thinking of responding that the U-haul car trailers are stout and well worth renting.  The front tire strap baskets work well, the fenders fold out.  Note how I cross-strap in the back – helps keep her in place – found that idea online.  When I hauled home the ’62 wagon 300 miles across Washington state on a U-haul it certainly went well.  Hardly knew it was back there.  Finally bought a trailer this last summer for car hauling and all around utility use, yet to haul anything on it except for brush.  ; )

 

Our Dad taught us that if your trailer starts to pass you – say braking on an icy road – you need to speed up.  That can be hair-raising............  ; )
