Veteran Posts: 189 Location: Detroit | Sorry if there's a discussion about this already. I used the search function and came up with nada. Is anyone planning on going to Hershey this week? If the weather holds out, I'm pretty sure I'll be taking my Plymouth from Maryland. It'll be it's first highway trip (sad that I've had it for over 5 years, and it's never really been driven more than a few miles at a time).

Elite Veteran Posts: 990 | Went to Hershey, they say attendance was down 30%. This DeSoto was in the flea market area, offered by a dealer for $20K. Dealer says it was from the Binder collection in Iowa, I have a hard time believing him. Odo showed 6K, body looked like it had some poor rust repair/touch up. Also, is that black insert in the driver's seat correct for a DeSoto? Though, only 1 1957-8 Plymouth (a Fury). Too bad I didn't get to see you when you were stationary! We could have had a chat. Expert Posts: 1918 Location: Hell's Outhouse - a.k.a. Buckeye, Arizona | Rob, Yep, that's the '61 from the Binder collection auction last October ('07) - although the auction site said she had just a hair over 9K original miles.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 461 Location: Brooklyn NY | I was there, bought a few little odds and ends, but noone had anything anyway for my 58 or 62. That 61 DeSoto was nice in terms of rarity and being the last year of production, I don't think the price was too out of line. The Sat. show was great, I love the real oldies and seeing cars I've never seen before. I liked the cars in the Historic Preservation area....Ralph from Brooklyn

Last time I saw it, it was for-sale in the B-J's "sale" tent, a few years ago. Anybody talk to Tom White, in Re: that turquoise/black CRL convertible? BTW, that car was originally gold/white, with the gold/black interior (if we're talking about its convertible-section; its Coro 2-dr hardtop section's paint scheme-coding was not confirmed, to me, but, I think I'll go find out what it was.

What do you know about the maroon and white '58 Belvedere parked in front of the AACA Hershey Museum? No problem! Actually, the Belvedere is Red & White, but the bright sunlight distorted the colors in the photo. That's my car.

The dealer is asking $20K. I sure don't, Rob. Try searching the site under "Binder DeSoto Aucton" - Lee had every sale price on there.....

Veteran Posts: 249 Location: Spencerport, New York | Being a vendor at Carlisle, I have to disagree with the dire assesments. I did very well and most of the vendors I spoke to seemed to be pleased with there sales. Attendance probably was down from last year but the people who came were buying! the only really disturbing thing was the number of empty vendor spaces. Hershey, on the other hand had a full flea market and a great car show, as usual but I can only speak for Friday and Saturday. We showed Karens' 65 Marlin in H.P.O.F. and even at the very back of the show field it was wall to wall people for most of the day. Needless to say with the wonderful weather we had a great time! HAPPY MOTORING!! I may just do that. There weren't that many cars in that section of the show, which I found surprising. fintastic57 - 2008-10-14 8:02 PM Being a vendor at Carlisle, I have to disagree with the dire assesments. Dick W. One of the vendors I spoke to at Hershey said business at Carlisle was, "dead." So, I guess it depends on who you ask. I saw that Marlin! Had I known, I would have said hello!

Expert Posts: 2996 Location: Sept. 1958 | Did anyone get any photos of that 56 Dodge Texan? I saw it for a few seconds as it drove by thru the show, but never did find the car again. I was there all 4 days, either Thursday or Friday is when I saw it. Marked on the windshield was "Factory A/C". Matt Dorschug

We got to the museum just as it opened and stayed until well after 1:00pm--we didn't mean to stay that long but we had a lot of fun in there. I was the guy wearing the Tulsarama shirt (I wore a different one on each day!). Someone asked me about it in the museum, actually. Was pretty neat.
