Plant was in Windsor, Ontario. As for the number built, there are no breakdown by model available for Canadian cars, as far as I know.

First VIN to last VIN indicates 7047 , D-67-2, ( Custom Royals) were built in Windsor. For some reason that I don't remember, I estimated that about 27% of total CR production was 2 dr. ht. Maybe about 1900.

The plant that built the 1957 Custom Royal is the plant that builds Caravans and Pacificas today - in Windsor, Ontario, on Chrysler Centre south of Tecumseh Street.

As for production -
4 door sedan - 4,413
2 door hardtop - 1,997
4 door hardtop - 638

Chrysler of Canada imported the Custom Royal convertible.

The Canadian-built Custom Royal had a 2-bbl 313-cid poly V8 mated to a Torqueflite transmission. If you wanted more power you could get a 4-bbl 313-cid poly V8. The imported convertible used American Dodge engines and not the 313 V8.

Serial numbers started at 99,028,601 ended at 99,035,648, for a total of 7,048.

All Canadian-built cars from 1936 through to 1965 has a body plate on the car, usually the firewall on pre-unibody cars -

Model No
Body No
Paint Code
Trim Code

Chrysler of Canada did not adopt the US-style body data tag until the 1966 model year.

The Model No should be something like - D67-2 2dr Hrdtp

Wow that is a lot of very Good information ,Thanks everyone ,That plant it was made at is just over the bridge in Canada from where I am in Michigan ,the car has a separate data plate on the right side of the firewall .It also has the 4 barrel carb with the poly engine .When I first looked at the car I thought the engine was taken out of something else as I have never seen a poly engine in a 1957 Dodge . The production numbers seem as if is a fairly rare car ,Thanks again Everyone for all your Help much appreciated .

The Data plate Sez Model D67-2 SPEC CL CPE Body # 690 paint 1127 and trim KBH .

Model No - SPEC CL CPE = Special Club Coupe : Mopar-speak for 2 door hardtop

Body No - 690 : The car is the 690th Special Club Coupe built

Paint - 1127 : 4 digit code where "11" is the upper colour - Ice Cap White and "27" is the lower colour - Sunset Red

Trim - KBH : The "K" is for 1957, but I do not have any information on the "BH", other than it has grey carpet and grey instrument panel pad.

The CPI/Ditzler codes for the paint -

Ice Cap White - W8134
Unable to find 8134 used by any American-built car.

Sunset Red - 70693 -
In the U.S. the 1957 DeSoto used 70693 (Dusty Orange) on cars built at the Los Angeles plant instead of 70698, while Dodge also used 70693 (Gauguin Red) at Los Angeles instead of 70698. Chrysler used 70693 (Gauguin Red) in 1957.

Small world!!

I checked out your car in the fall of 1991! Here is the sheet I filled out for it. Really nicely optioned car.

These are the forms I designed and printed for both CDN and USA built Dodges that Neil and I used for years.

That is a small world ,Yes that certainly looks like my car ,The interior has been redone since the photos .That extension pipe on the valve cover is still on it .The color in your photos is that close to the original ? I bought the car last spring and the former owners Dad started sanding it down just after he bought it ,He didn't like the color ,I do And it also has those Canadian inside door handles .So would you know what interior seat pattern the Canadian Custom royals should have ?

KBH was very common. I might have pics of the interior colours and patterns somewhere.

Standard equipment on the Custom Royal included the "spuds" on the front bumper (available only on the CR in Canada), wheel covers, Torqueflite, backup lights, cigar lighter, glove box door lock and light. The heater/defroster was listed as optional, but it was a mandatory option - you had no choice, you paid the extra cost for the heater/defroster when you bought the car.

Base price in Canada for the Custom Royal 2 door hardtop was $3,590 with a shipping weight of 3,770 lbs.

Those Canadian inside door handles were used on the Canadian-built 1957-59 Custom Royal, Windsor and 1958-59 Firedome, as well as US-built 1957-58 Firedome. The handle in the photo is mounted incorrectly, though. Surprising how many GM and Ford lovers have owned Chrysler products over years. 1957 to 1965, as well as 1966 A body cars, should have the driver's side door handles pointing to the 2 o'clock position and not the 3 or 4 o'clock. Passenger side should be pointing to the 10 o'clock position. Makes it easier to push the handle forward to lock the front doors from the inside.

Yes, as I recall, just about everything including door panels was USA Royal. Back in those days I left everything "interior" to Neil so no luck with my photos to date. My friend may have some details. The really hard thing to find was the VINYL that looked like the cloth. It was used on both door and quarter panel trim only.

What original interior stuff do you have and what do you want? KBH was really plain and boring!!

The really rare CDN stuff your car has was padded dash and Power Pack.

Needless to say, the most obvious difference, USA to CDN was the door sill plates.

I said the car was a repaint (on the form) but the actual colour looked correct. I will attach pics of a CDN Sherwin Williams paint chip page. These were the guys I used to spectrograph to get the actual correct shades. I really don't care what anyone called it!! Sunset red, Bermuda coral, gauging red, tropical coral --- who cares!! Here is the correct shade!! It looked OK on a two tone Dodge, but, in my opinion really sucked on a solid colour Chrysler!! It seems that even today there is no "general consensus" what this colour is "supposed to look look like"!

Just another of those Mopar mysteries!! So -- your guess is as good as anyone else!!

Here is the Ditzler/Canadian Pittsburgh Industries formula codes. You should be able to get the right shade, if the paint shop can follow the codes...

Personaly, I like the KBH interior!

Lots of pictures of other canadian KBH interiors here in this older thread:
http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=52850&...

You will see in that thread I just posted that the Canadian interior was not 100% a US Royal interior, as the cloth is different.

Canadian cloth used was similar to 1957 DeSoto Firedome (little pics for comparison's sake: 1st pic is KBH, 2nd pic is a US Firedome):
