Color of Inner Fender, Firewall and Internal side of Hood 57/58 DeSoto

I have seen an video of an nice 58 Firedome 2drht, and the owner tells in that video that the Internal side of the Hood should be grey, because car its canadian production.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X6WlbFJHoI

There are a lot of question marks in that sentence, which cause me to think about.

1) Canadian build
- On my knowledge 57 & 58 Desotos were built at Wyoming plant,- never heard that desoto was built in Canada...
> Found a post of Bill (Chrycoman),- LS2W Firedome 1.070 only were built in Windsor
http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=20263&...

2) Firewall in grey color
- ....never seen that anywhere on any of our fwd look cars

3) Inner fender
- as my knowledge Wyoming desotos has grey inner fenders while LA-Plant desotos has black in 57
> My knowledge based on this thread: http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=39808&
Who knows about 58 (58 they have 3 plants, Wyoming, LA, Windsor)

4) Internal side of the Hood
- the owner on that particular desoto in the video spent a lot of time to tape the lines on front side of the hood.
it is much to expensive to do this as a manufacturer, even on those days, I think its his personal interpretation.
About the grey color itself, I think its grey anywhere, maybe Wyoming only but always invisible because of insulation

By the way,- he talks about 354 Poly Engine, which he said is on canadian cars only.

Whatever the answer is, it will likely turn out to be plant dependent, e.g. LA did things differently than Detroit. Case in point, apparently, LA used up paint dregs by mixing them together to create a grey paint that was used on the inside of trunk lids (and maybe as the first coat on the top side).

Fenders and hoods were most likely pre-painted in a separate shop and then brought to the assembly line, as needed, to match the day's production roster. So they could have been treated to a different under paint than the top colour.

Bill (Chrycoman) has health issues and most likely will not be able to help us.

To confuse matters, this Canadian 57 Desoto says the engine should be a 341. BUT brochures do not necessarily = reality.

Firesweeps were made in LA.  Those Canadian LWB models were rare, so I will not speculate.  I think that orange Firedome is the first 1958 De Soto Canadian data plate I have seen.

From Detroit, the inner fenders were gray.  Firewalls were body color.  The underhood color is an interesting question - I'll see if I can find images of an original car showing the under hood.

Here's a Fireflite that appears to be mostly original.  It is a special paint code car "999" but the exterior is a silvery blue.  I would guess the under side of the hood on this car is black in color.

Another image from the huge De Soto midwest auction a million years ago.  The engine bay was a mess, but the rest of the car looked amazing.  It was a spring special too.

I know that Desoto. I have "competed" against it at a Mopar show in the Pre-1960 Stock category. He shows up, there is no contest. I (and everyone else in the category) lose; he wins (it is his daughter's car).

Nice car. I think it had a colour change during the restoration so who knows what is 100% correct at this point. I think the car was green or turquoise originally.

XBX indicates wedgewood blue and pearl white.  Beautiful car!  That shade of orange I can't match up - maybe Autumn Rust might be closest.  If they didn't make that shade of orange back then, they should have!  Educated guess: hood hinges argent, hood springs dark red, under hood flat black.

I should have taken notes when I talked to the owner (or her dad) back in 2019. All I remember from their photo album is the car was not originally that orange.

As for the hood hinges and springs, I thought that it was only the Dodges (and maybe Firesweeps) that had red springs

This car (repeated from above):

My Firedome 58 was built at Plant code 504 and that is Warren Avenue , Dearborn Michigan .
It had the firewall color same as lower outside.
Inner fenders were blueish gray.
The hood innerside I am not sure of since I had no photos of it saved.
