I doubt it would be a manual reset breaker in a car.  I would work on the 
assumption that it is faulty or there is another problem.  Can you do a 
continuity test on the breaker?

But since the voltage is away for a couple of days now I think we can
assume that it is not of the automatic type..
Does someone of the group has an idea how to reset this type of
circuitbreaker (and has Chrylser fitted manual circuitbreakers in a 1960
Imperial ?).
