Hi Rex:
Just been there, done that. First disconnect the battery!!!   Remove the
radio, remove the air outlet from the top of the dash then the l/h duct
from the plenum. You may need to remove the fan/ air control from the
dash. Once all this is done remove the ignition switch so you can remove
the battery feed wire that goes through the ammeter loop. Disconnect the
rest of the wires, tagging them or better yet take a digital picture for
reference. 
There are 3 nuts holding in the r/h gauge pod, a long one at the bottom
and 2 plain nuts at about 10 and 2 o'clock.  Once it's out 4 screws for
the gauge. I used fluorescent red model paint for my needles, looks
perfect to factory spec.  Good luck, contact me for clarification of any
