Nothing very useful to contribute here, except to say that the 1956 and 1957 Imperial's are two very different cars. I would be surpirsed if the same part would work, although if it is cheap enough, I would be tempted to give it a try.

Imperialists,
 
    I have traced an ongoing leak finally to a seal at my box on my 1956 Imperial Sedan.  I can purchase a Lower Steering Box Seal Kit/Pitman Shaft Seal however the parts house can only confirm this kit to go back to the 1957 Imperial.  My question therefore is, is this  kit compatible for both of those years, or was there a change in technology between the model years preventing me from use of the '57 offering?
