Re: IML: Anybody have a '64-'66 Owners manual?

Just a touch, on syn oils.Syn. oils are great for late model engines, after EFI. However, before that carb engines, had excess fuel, carbon deposits, and other products of combustion washed past the rings, into the crankcase oil. The oil was changed, to remove these contaminants. The engines also ran cooler temps. 160-180,which also presipatated deposits in the oil. Now engine temps. are 200-235 and the other contaminants are reduced dramatictly.Thats why syn. oils are more popular now. Remember syn. oils are not new! the Germans had it during WW2
The long and short: use mineral oil (std) choose the oil grade for your OPERATING temp, and change it regularly. Ya'll have a nice day, Dave.
