All the points you made are essentially correct and I would not dispute
them; however, it is the use of straight, rust-free cars from no-salt states
that makes one question the "thugs".

I agree with you of course, but I can see the other guys' point of view too. As much as we love 'our' cars, the simple fact is that to many people an old Imperial (or any other old car, no matter it's condition) is just old junk - they don't begin to care what happens to it. For some people, old cars are actual objects of hatred. From that perspective, I suppose it's more rewarding to destroy a nice car than a beat up car. I don't get it, I don't like it, but there you go.
