Re: IML: freeze plugs in head on '67 440cid?

I feel a little better that it's probably not a bullet hole!

Any thoughts on this question? The engine is very old, with OK compression and no blue smoke out the pipes. I am just resurrecting her right now. In a perfect world, I would pull the motor for a rebuild. I would try to see how she does first.

A valve job would tighten everything up on the top end. Would that hasten problems at the lower end, i.e.: rings?

I would rather postpone (for now) the inevitable engine rebuild. Comments?

Well, you found one of them! There are actually 4 of these in that location (2 on each head), and they will be replaced anytime you have head work done. It's pretty tough to see them and work on them with the heads on the engine
- my advice is to pull the heads and get them gone through; you'll have no
further problems, and 100K miles of trouble free driving on unleaded fuel!
