RE: IML: Ammeter Gauge Failure for '66 LeBaron

Hi Marc...thanks for the email! After the gauge was 'bypassed', have you since had the gauge replaced? or are you still using the car but without the working Ammeter?
Thanks! its good to know I'm not the only one who had had this problem as several other IML members have also said "been there, done that' !!
Thanks

I had my ammeter fail on my '66 Crown Coupe, the car would not run. I
seem to remember that the entire electrical system was out, except for
the interior lights. It has been over 14 years since that happened, so
I can't be sure.

Bypassed ammeter was the fix by McCuthens Auto Electric in Everett, Tom

I have heard of Ammeter Gauge failure causing the car not to run. This
has never happened to me, but I don't think it would be an intermittent
problem. Is this problem still intermittent, or has the car finally quit
running altogether? There should be a way to bypass that gauge to
determine if it really is your problem. Replacing the gauge isn't going
to hurt anything, but I don't think it would be my next step.

Intermittent ignition problems are nearly always due to loose/dirty
connections, or corroded wires.
