That happened to one of my '60's. They removed the pan and retapped the hole. I think that they might have welded a nut to the bottom of the inside of the pan. It is repairable. A common repair that I don't think is great is to use a rubber stopper insteads of a threaded drain plug. There are folks who swear by this.

Any brilliant ideas on a quick fix for a stripped oil pan drain? I changed oil yesterday and the plug felt weird going in and would not tighten.It now just turns with a wrench but seems to be holding although there is a small leak. Guess the pan has to come off.
