Rob, There is another solution that has worked for me sometimes.A cheap 
springloaded centrepunch can sometimes encourage a seemingly stuck thread 
stump to unscrew( if you can get at it) . Sometimes you can catch enough of 
the stud to drive it counterclockwise by actuating the spring action of the 
punch.However you are working in a difficult corner of an Imperial and you 
will need lots of luck to wriggle out of it. Geoff Simpson in New Zealand
