Re: IML: More calipersonline

About the brakes working, but not being really
impressive: I redid the brakes on the 1973 last year,
just like you did - everything but the hard lines.

They are all new/rebuilt parts, and I'm confident that
the assembly is correct after on miss on seating a
shoe in the rear wheel cylinder.

The car does not stop sharply like the 1970 that I
suspect is stock/original. The '70 has (the same)
brakes that are jumpy and are capable of easily being
locked. Sensitive might be the word, in a good way.

The new stuff either has the brake booster valved
different, or the shoes/pads are not as good, or
something. It works, just not "properly", the way
that I think a big Chrysler should, and it's a bit
disappointing, as was the rebuilt PS pump that seems
more "dead" than what I have on the other cars. Not
annoying enough for me to dis-assemble and chase
cures, but noticeable to me.

The aftermarket just isn't what it used to be.

Remember that they're doing the brake linings out of
shredded peach pits or something that's "organic"
these days. I got ceramic premium ones for my 1999
car, and there's a big difference, but that doesn't
help the other cars, since ceramic isn't available.

The pull to the right is most likely an indication of
a front-end or bushing that wants to be re-done.
