It wouldn't scare me as long as the seat was anchored well to the floor. You have to push the pedal really hard! The original M/C wuld have most likely been the same as other '55s, which for a long time (but not anymore-Jim Fredrick has the kit) was impossible to fix when it went bad. The M/C on this car appears to match the '56 and newer style through '61. On these cars, the booster is separate from the M/C.

Hopefully they paid their driver well enough to compensate him for the extra braking effort this would have required!
