Re: IML: Cooling system "cleaning"?

Paul, we use a procedure that seems to work rather well. We prefer to remove the t-stat, or use a gutted t-stat base. If the cooling system is anti-freeze rich, reduce to about 25-30% add 8oz of liquid Cascade (without bleach) or  8oz of dry Cascade in warm water till dissolved. Add the magic juice, and top off cooling system. Go for a ride, try to keep engine temp in the 180-190 range for  about an hour. After return, remove top rad hose, we use a length of pvc pipe in the hose to get the discharge away from the work area. Put the garden hose in the rad, and run engine, revving the engine once in a while to boost the pressure. Flush till clean water flows. It's best to drain the block, and lower rad hose. Re-install t-stat( don't forget to drill a 1/8" hole in the base), and refill cooling system, if you not in a freeze prone area, 25-30% anti-freeze is fine. Done. This may be a useful procedure to put on the site, but that's for others to decide. Ya'll have a nice day, Dave.
