Re: IML: bizarre starting issue

Hi Percy,

Since you are hot wiring the coil, is there normally a ballast resistor in line with the + terminal at the coil? If so, you are bypassing it now and it could be that this ballast resistor is at fault since the ignition is working with 12V directly injected at the coil :)

Good luck,

Robert

Subject: IML: bizarre starting issue

Greetings and happy new year fellow Imperialists,

Ended the old year with a fizzle: pressure washed engine bay, drove home, could not start my 65 cr4dr the next day. I felt like a total bozo. Removed and dried distributor and all the connections I could find.
And now for the sizzle: hot-wired the + coil, turned ignition on and shorted the starter solenoid et voila, she started right up!
Ignition only gets juice when ignition is on and NOT when starter is activated.
All ideas/suggestions welcome.
p.s. car runs on gas and l.p.g.                                                                 gratefully yours, Percy Bunink                       1-1-2008         Amsterdam           the Netherlands
