Subject: DECODING VIN NUMBERS

Hi everybody, Just wondering if any body can help me determine what engine is
in this Belvedere I'm looking at. It's a 1957 4-door with a V-8. The door
pillar # is 16281669 and the engine block # is 1737929. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. The car has a 2-barrel carb and the valve covers have
bolts running through them.
